For their 25th anniversary, Wieden +Kennedy needed a Founder’s Day program that celebrated the agency’s history, highlighted the incredible line-up of speakers who were presenting at the day-long event, and served as a compact tour guide for Portland, which many attendees would be visiting for the first time. Oh, and it had to be top secret: No one from within the agency could work on it.
The program was designed to evoke a classic carnival playbill, with key locations around Portland highlighted and detailed on one side and on the other, information and the bios and background of the six featured presenters. I wrote all the copy for the piece, as well as the copy for the on-site event signage: Ring Toss! Milk Bottle Balancing! With special guests: The Beastie Boys.
